🚨 Separate MBBS Application Required: NEIGRIHMS Shillong has opened online applications for its 18 North East Open Category MBBS seats for the 2026–27 session.

North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences — NEIGRIHMS, Shillong — has released the official MBBS prospectus and online application for candidates belonging to the eight North Eastern States, including Sikkim.

This is a separate institutional application process. Merely participating in MCC or a State counselling process does not complete the NEIGRIHMS North East Open Category application.

Important Dates

• Online application opened: 27 July 2026
• Last date to apply: 17 August 2026
• First counselling and admission: To be notified
• Commencement of session: To be notified

Candidates must monitor the NEIGRIHMS website because individual counselling call letters may not be sent.

Who Can Apply?

For the North East Open Category, the applicant must:

• Be a permanent resident or domicile of one of the eight North Eastern States, including Sikkim
• Have studied and completed the preceding two years of education in schools located in India
• Be at least 17 years old at admission, or complete 17 years on or before 31 December 2026
• Have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany and Zoology, and English individually
• Have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology
• Have appeared in and qualified NEET UG 2026

• Arunachal Pradesh
• Assam
• Manipur
• Meghalaya
• Mizoram
• Nagaland
• Sikkim
• Tripura

The number of seats may change according to directions issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Selection Method

Selection for the 18 North East Open Category seats will be based on:

• NEET UG 2026 qualification
• NEET UG score
• NEET UG All India Rank
• Eligibility and domicile verification

NEIGRIHMS will prepare the merit list based on NEET UG 2026 AIR.

This is not a separate entrance examination.

Application Processing Fee

₹500

Candidates should complete the payment and retain the application/payment acknowledgement.

Candidates should prepare clear scanned copies of:

1. Recent passport-size photograph
2. Domicile or Permanent Residential Certificate
3. Temporary Residential Certificate valid for 2026, where accepted
4. Date-of-birth proof
5. Class 10 certificate
6. Class 12 pass or provisional pass certificate
7. Class 12 marksheet
8. NEET UG 2026 scorecard showing AIR and percentile

The domicile or residence certificate must be issued by the competent authority specified in the prospectus.

How to Apply

1. Visit the official NEIGRIHMS website.
2. Open the online application for MBBS Course 2026–27 — North East Open Category.
3. Register using an active email address.
4. Login with the registered email and password.
5. Open Apply Services.
6. Search for M.B.B.S.
7. Select the MBBS application.
8. Fill all information carefully.
9. Upload the prescribed documents.
10. Pay the ₹500 processing fee.
11. Submit and save the final acknowledgement.

Important Counselling Rule

Candidates shortlisted for counselling must:

• Attend counselling personally
• Produce all original documents
• Complete the medical examination at NEIGRIHMS
• Pay the admission fee if selected

Candidates who fail to attend counselling or medical examination on the notified date may lose their admission claim and waiting-list position.

Fee Structure

The quarterly mess deposit is stated as ₹10,950.

Bond Rule

Selected candidates must execute a bond at admission.

A candidate leaving the course without completing it may be liable to pay:

₹10,00,000 bond amount

Candidates should read the complete bond and discontinuation conditions before accepting admission.
