MCC NRI and OCI Document Verification Required Before NEET UG 2026 Choice Filling

MCC has issued a new action-required notice for NRI and OCI candidates. Candidates must select “YES” for NRI Quota during registration and complete MCC document verification to view NRI seats during choice filling.

MCC NRI and OCI Document Verification Required for NEET UG Counselling 2026

🚨 Important action for NRI and OCI candidates

>

MCC has issued a new official notice stating that all NRI and OCI candidates applying through MCC counselling must first complete verification of their credentials and documents through the MCC NRI Document Verification Team.

>

Candidates should complete this process well before choice filling.

The Medical Counselling Committee issued the notice on 6 August 2026 for candidates participating in NEET UG Counselling 2026 under the applicable NRI category.

Who Is Affected?

This notice applies to:

  • NRI candidates
  • OCI candidates
  • Candidates claiming eligibility for NRI Quota seats
  • Candidates who want applicable NRI seats to appear during MCC choice filling

This is especially important for candidates seeking MBBS or BDS admission through NRI seats in participating Deemed Universities and other MCC institutions.

What Must NRI and OCI Candidates Do?

Candidates must complete the following steps:

  1. Register on the MCC NEET UG counselling portal.
  2. Carefully fill all personal and eligibility details.
  3. Select “YES” when asked:

“Whether you want to apply for NRI Quota seats”

  1. Submit all documents required for NRI eligibility verification.
  2. Wait for verification and confirmation from the MCC NRI Document Verification Team.
  3. Check the choices displayed after successful verification.
  4. Complete choice filling before the MCC deadline.

Selecting “NO” for the NRI Quota question may prevent applicable NRI seats from appearing in the candidate’s choice-filling account.

Why Is Document Verification Required?

MCC will verify the candidate’s credentials to establish whether the candidate is eligible to participate under the NRI category.

Only after successful verification and confirmation of eligibility will the candidate be able to view the applicable NRI seats during choice filling.

Seats Visible After Successful Verification

According to the official notice, successfully verified NRI and OCI candidates will be able to view:

  • Applicable NRI Quota seats
  • Indian Unreserved or UR seats for which they are otherwise eligible

Candidates can then fill choices from the seats displayed in their account according to their eligibility and preference.

Verification does not guarantee admission or allotment. Seat allotment will depend on NEET UG merit, eligibility, choices submitted, quota rules and seat availability.

Important Registration Selection

During MCC registration, NRI and OCI candidates must carefully answer the NRI Quota question.

Select:

YES — Whether you want to apply for NRI Quota seats

Candidates should verify this selection before final submission of the registration form.

Documents Candidates Should Keep Ready

Candidates should keep all applicable original and scanned documents ready, which may include:

  • NEET UG 2026 scorecard
  • NEET UG admit card
  • Passport of candidate
  • OCI card, where applicable
  • NRI status proof
  • Passport and visa details of the NRI sponsor, where applicable
  • Embassy or Consulate certificate, where required
  • Sponsorship affidavit
  • Relationship proof between candidate and sponsor
  • Birth certificate
  • Class 10 and Class 12 certificates
  • Candidate and sponsor identity documents
  • Other documents prescribed in the MCC Information Bulletin or NRI notice

The exact acceptance of documents is decided by MCC. Candidates should use only genuine, valid and clearly readable documents.

Complete Verification Early

MCC has advised NRI and OCI candidates to complete verification well in advance to avoid problems during choice filling.

Do not wait until:

  • The last registration date
  • Choice locking
  • The final hours of choice filling
  • The allotment-processing stage

Verification may take time if:

  • Documents are unclear
  • Relationship proof is incomplete
  • Sponsor details do not match
  • Passport or OCI details are incorrect
  • Additional clarification is required

MCC Round 1 Important Deadlines

As per the currently published MCC Round 1 schedule:

ActivityDeadline
Registration12 August 2026, up to 3:00 PM
Registration payment12 August 2026, up to 6:00 PM
Choice fillingUp to 13 August 2026, 11:00 AM
Choice locking12 August, 4:00 PM to 13 August, 11:00 AM

This NRI/OCI notice does not announce a separate verification deadline. Candidates must complete verification early enough for eligible seats to become visible before choice filling closes.

Important Difference: NRI Eligibility and NRI Seat Allotment

NRI Eligibility Verification

This confirms whether the candidate is eligible to view and participate for applicable NRI seats.

NRI Seat Allotment

This depends on:

  • NEET UG rank
  • NRI eligibility
  • Choices filled
  • Available NRI seats
  • Applicable MCC rules
  • College and university conditions

Successful document verification alone does not guarantee an NRI seat.

Check NRI Fees Before Filling Choices

NRI MBBS and BDS seats may have substantially higher fees than regular merit seats.

Before adding an NRI choice, candidates should verify:

  • Annual tuition fee
  • Fee currency and payment method
  • Hostel fee
  • Security deposit
  • University charges
  • One-time charges
  • Fee escalation
  • Refund rules
  • Discontinuation penalty
  • Total course cost

Do not select an NRI seat unless the candidate and family are financially prepared to join after allotment.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Selecting “NO” for NRI Quota during registration
  • Assuming OCI status automatically confirms NRI eligibility
  • Uploading incomplete sponsor documents
  • Not providing relationship proof
  • Using unclear passport or visa copies
  • Waiting until the last day for verification
  • Assuming document submission means verification is complete
  • Filling NRI choices without checking annual fees
  • Confusing NRI seats with regular Deemed merit seats
  • Depending only on unofficial agents or social-media messages

What Candidates Should Do Now

  1. Log in to the MCC registration portal.
  2. Check the NRI Quota selection in the registration form.
  3. Select “YES” where applicable.
  4. Arrange all NRI or OCI supporting documents.
  5. Complete MCC document verification.
  6. Confirm that eligible NRI seats are visible.
  7. Check fees before adding any college.
  8. Arrange choices in genuine preference order.
  9. Complete choice filling before 13 August at 11:00 AM.
  10. Save registration, verification and choice-filling proof.

NRI and OCI candidates should complete verification immediately rather than waiting for choice locking.

First confirm eligibility and document acceptance. After verification, check which NRI and Indian UR seats are actually visible in the candidate account.

Before submitting choices, verify the full college fee, refund rules, financial commitment and willingness to join every selected institution.
